Published on Dec 16, 2021 17:14

The City's demographer, National Demographics Corporation, developed three draft maps for public consideration:

Draft Map - NDC 101
Draft Map - NDC 102
Draft Map - NDC 103

To the extent practicable, district lines will be adopted using the following criteria:

1. Geographically contiguous districts (each city council district should share a common border with the next).

2. Geographic integrity of local neighborhoods or communities shall be respected in a manner that minimizes its division.

3. Geographic integrity of a city shall be respected in a manner that minimizes its division.

4. Easily identifiable boundaries that follow natural or artificial barriers (rivers, streets, highways, rail lines, etc.).

5. Lines shall be drawn to encourage geographic compactness.

6. In addition, boundaries shall not be drawn for purposes of favoring or discriminating against a political party.

Which map do you prefer? Are there additional criteria you feel needs to be considered? Let us know your comments by emailing the City Clerk at [email protected]

Comments and maps received before January 5th at 5pm will be included in the January 12, 2022 Public Hearing. Comments received after January 5, 2022 will be included in the 4th Public Hearing.
